They are still pretty young and should still be on formula. It is not unusual for them to not eat these things at this young an age, but if they are on formula still, they will be getting what they need. If they will not take a syringe anymore, you can put it in a shallow dish, you can also add a little yogurt to thicken it up, as well.

:goodpost Pappy is right. Give them time. Can you tell a little about your Flyers? What Kind of Formula are you feeding and the weight?
Exactly what Veg are you feeding? They should only get 1 piece of fruit a day. About half size of a dime or 1 to 2 blue berries at this young age.
As they get older you can give a little more. :D Have you Read The Nutrition section yet? :thinking

They should be on FoxVally 32/40! :thumbsup3 At 9 weeks old, they should still be eating at least 4 may be 5 times a day.:D
The diet will be a lot like Gray Squirrels. They just need a lot of Protean and you can feed a verity of seeds. What I do some times with the WaxWorms or MealWorms, is squeeze some on my finger and wipe it on the mouth. :D :hidechair They will learn to love them when they are older.
Can you post a few Pictures? We can tell allot about the Health just by looking at the picture. :D
We love Pictures of Babies.:thumbsup5 Can't wait to see them. I hope this helps you.
Good Luck Christal

What Part of Florida do you live in? We have quite a few Members living there.:D
Might be able to come up with some FV while you are waiting for yours. When do you expect the FoxVally to be in? :thinking

What were they on for formula before now? Did you just get them or have you had them since they were younger?

Okay my FV came in. (: Sometimes I'll give it through syringe, sometimes in their daily yogurt.

And I got my female at about 7 weeks. She's always eaten fruits and veggies so I wasnt sure if she'd need formula anymore.

She WAS on Esbillac until I found out it's not good for them.

And my male I got a week later, from an elderly lady he was an Esbillac baby as well.

:) :Welcome

all i can say is go slow to transition flyers (or any babies onto fox valley) it is the very, very best of all the formulas but it is thicker/more filling than esbilac.

start off with a small amount so their stomachs don't have problems.... and gradually move them up .... i'm sure one of the flyer people or mrs skul will come on soon.

fox valley also makes a probiotic and an ultra boost which might come in handy in the future ..... you can use full fat yogurt and cream instead but i prefer going with the original fox valley mixtures when possible.

back to the formula discussion... you can try either a dilution of 1 fox valley to 2 parts of water ... or extra dilution of 1 fv to 3 parts water....

i am also going to post mrs skuls tips on feeding flyers ... but please notice that it's for adult flyers.... it's just something for you to keep for the future....

MRGN please be advised this is for adult flyers... it's something to refer to in the future but considering you are already starting to give your flyers adult food it is a good idea for you to have this information.

wishing you all the best.:D

this is from mrs skul.... she sent to me to share... because of her dyslexia she prefers to talk to flyer people... her cell phone number is available and she's up all night cause she's nocturnal....

I've bolded and underlined some items to make it easier to read

:fireworks congratulation!!!:goofwe
Welcome to the World of Being OWNED By The Flying Squirrel. :D

If you feed a High Protein diet WaxWorms MealWorms ""Even when they turn in to Millers they love them."" Freeze Dried Chicken or Fresh.
PetsMart carries Prim Bites & PetCo Carries PureBites FDChicken., VitaLife makes Chicken Chips and Chicken Poppers. PetsMart use to carrie them.
The Chicken chips you can find on line. This is a Dog treat. All you wont is Chicken nothing else added. You can try Scrambled, Boiled, Poached egg, Fried is usually to greasy.

You also need to pick up Some CuddelBone for Birds and put 1 in the cage. They make a Calcium Mineral Chew that is the shape of a Ice Cream cone. You can find at both Pet stores. They will be in the Rodent and the Rabbit/ Chinchilla/Ferret sections. " Just ask some one and they will help you find them if you cant." I have 1 hanging inside & outside the big cage, and 1 in every cage I have. I hang them so they don't fall to the bottom and get Peeeeeed on.:D :rotfl {"Just 4to5 inch of dental floss. Hanging By the plat form they feed on. When done it just drops and it hangs."} The Flyers will eat on the Cuddle bone and then the C/M Cone. They switch around. Some times it can be in the Cage for a year or so be for they use them. If they are not lacking Calcium they will not eat them. When needed, they Devour it. :shark

I feed my Flyer HHB and Fresh Vegatables. Protean and a Little FV every Day.

Some like the FV by a Syringe and Some like FV Yogurt By a Syringe or in a Bottle Cap. "They like to pick it up and like it like IceCream. Happy, Healthy Little Monsters. :D

Flyers Make their own Vitim D and Eating Mushroom every day Helps.

They like Sugar Snap Peas, Broccoli&the Leafs, ButterNut Squash& Acorn Squash. {"I will wash/dry the seed and feed them on the side.""}Asparagus, Bell Peppers and The Seeds, {"The BP Seeds need to be feed right a way or they turn black. I cut the seeds/skin holding them and feed as group."} Fresh Cranberries/ or frozen, Cherry Tomatoes cut in half. :Love_Icon Mine Love Cucumber&Avocado :Love_Icon like crazy, and I mix up a green salad with Romain, Brock Choy, Ediva & Godiva Lettuce, Any of the Lettuce,Cabbage.
"Ice Burg Lettuce has nothing in it for them. I never feed it." You can buy the Ready Mixed Salad's with all kinds of Romain and Letta's.

Now the Fruits. You do not wont them filling up on the Fruit. So just a little each time. Chunk of Apple or a Pare, the size of a Nickel.
BlueBerries {3or 4} Depending how big. :D RasBerry or Black Berry. :Love_Icon Mine love the ComCouts.:Love_Icon I usually hold the strawberry and let them eaton it. Just not much. Cherry, Fig, Prickly Pare Cactus Fruit." Oh and Sweet Potato not to much. :nono They Have a large SWEET TOOTH and will steal it right out of your mouth if they can. :rotfl " Darla found a small piece of dark chocolate. Can you imagine a flyer on Speed. I thought she would die."

Just be careful. I am going to PM My number. If you have question or need help just call me any time day or night."

PS

Just follow the Nutrition for Squirrels and add The Protean :thumbsup3

I give Black Oil Sunflower seeds, The Squash Seeds,Pumpkin,Cantaloupe, Watermelon Seeds as a treat.
"Usually 4 or 5. It depends on how the Veg eating has gone that day."
I always give a nut for them to stash or keep. And if/when they open it. It's theirs free treat. :thumbsup5

Please call me some time.
I will give you a little info of what to be looking for if and when he gets sick.
Remember The Flyers will not show hardly any sines of being sick until it it to late.
So watch, and Know Him like the palm of your hand.
If he normally plays all the time. Then starts sleeping and Playing, and sleeping. Loss of wt.2 gm or more.
These are sines to watch for.

:hidechair ... i forgot to say fox valley formula (and they make? 20, plus the ultra boost and probiotic and other things )... anyway i'll just say the formula takes longer to digest than esbilac... that's what i meant by more filling/thicker in my earlier post....

Okay, I have only been giving them 2-3 feedings of FV a day.
They don't always want it so I don't force them.
How many CC's of FV would you say per feeding??? (:

Hi all,

I see a lot of good stuff here. I have raised many orphan grey squirrel babies on Esbilac, and so I used it with the flyer that my son found in October. He is doing great! I just read that Esbilac is bad for flyers and that they need protein every day. That is new to me and not in other instructions that I printed off the net. Can someone please explain abou the Esbilac and the Protein being different for flyers?

Flyers need much more animal proteins then greys or other tree squirrels do. Fox Valley is what is usually adviced for formula for them and after weaning (although as long as they will take it, give it to them) a source of protein is found in bugs (waxworms, mealworms, superworms and crickets--you should coat these with calcium powder). Many will eat chicken and some will eat eggs, as well. Most like the freeze dried chicken they sell in the dog treat section of Petsmart. I feed my flyers 5-10 waxworms every day, along with block (both hhb's and harlen tekkland) and veggies, some fruits and yogurt. Variety is key, as they can be very picky.
