Ok so I got home from work and ONLY in Bandits cage there were ANTS all over his food bowls!!! and all over the bottom of his cage...I was frantic but found Bandit in his pouch with not one any on him or in his pouch...I quickly got him out and put him in Sadie's cage, when I went back to get his food bowls they started crawing up my arm and I have several bites...Im gonna check him over really well to make sure none got to him! I found where they are coming from....under the carpet in the corner of my living room...I got some Raid (the child/pet safe kind and no odor)...and I put a Raid ant trap under the carpet before hammering it back down! ...hopefully this will do the trick...I live in FL and we do have ants...but I have never had ants here...Fire ants at that! Im stripping down as we speak cause I still feel like there crawing over me....LOL...I think they were going after the HHB's!

Im gonna get him a cage like sadie's in a couple weeks so ill keep them together till then! And his cage is staying OUTSIDE!!! Any suggestions of anything else i could do???

I use good ole 20 mule team borax, all around out side and in , in cabnets, on the carpet, I brush it in, keeps out ants and fleas!!
where was the cage?? Are you sure it was fire ants? How scary, I found a kitten covered with them once, they killed it. Man oh man do they hurt. Its like they wait until they are all on you then send out a signal and they all start biting at once.
I was standing in the median once when I got attacked, I started screaming and tearing my pants off right there in the middle of the street.........I hate those things

awwww I am sorry.. If he has any bites and you can get some silvadine it will heal in a few days.. or you can get hypercal which s a all natural healing agent works wonders on any wound.. you can get it at GNC or any health food store maybe even the pharmacy, the other is prescribed by a dr. you can also use both on yourself works great..:Love_Icon

POSITIVE they were fire ants...I have about 20 bites on my hands and arms..but Bandit seems to be perfectly fine...not a bite or anything...I checked is mouth to make sure if he tried to eat any that they didnt bite him...His cage was in the corner of my living room...NOT BY a door or window or anything....I realized they were comeing from the corner under the carpet...I picked it up and there they all were (besides all the ones in his cage)! Just glad I seen it when I did!!! I have a feeling it may have something to do with the weather or they just discovered how to get in! In any case they seem to be gone for now! Im gonna get him another cage as soon as I get my tax refund in acouple weeks...they should be ok together till then! I did have an extra cage but gave it to a friend who really needed one, Good thing they love eachother sooo much and Sadie doesnt mind sharing...LOL

:poke I would also look around the foundation of your home and yard and see if you have any mounds or exposed diggings you need to address. Fire ants are tough and don't retreat easily.

We live in a one level "triplex" community.....the bug guy comes and sprays quit often....he just did recently....maybe thats why they made there eat inside??? Havnt seen any yet today...thank goodness

I just saw this.....wrap double sided tape around each leg of the cage to where an ant would have to cross it to get to a food bowl.
