Don't have an answer for you. :dono
BUT Could something have gotten into his usual bed that could have scared him?? Spider or other creepy crawly?
Did you wash them with a different detergent and he doesn't like the smell, hey don't laugh you never know what causes sudden changes in these guys.:flash3
He is still climbing ok? Have you noticed any other changes during the day, is he still eating , drinking and pooping the same, I wouldn't be too concerned if everything else is normal .:D

he still plays in the hammock and cube when hes jumping around his cage NO problem climbing at all!! lol and he eats anything i put in front of him... just likes sleeping on the floor i guess :dono at first i thought it was because theres a blankie down there so i put one in his cube but he still sleeps on the floor most nights?! maybe he likes the blankie on the floor better?! i just dont know!!!!

or maybe he just tires him self out playing (all of his toys are on the floor) and just sleeps where he is :rotfl last night i woke him up when he was on the floor and gave him an acorn then he retired to his cube!!! so i dont think hes afraid or anything... i just thought squirrels werent supposed to like the ground?! the floor of his cage IS at the same level as our bed and if im on the LT at the end of the bed he sits in his cage next to me so maybe he sleeps on the floor to be closer to me?! he is a mommys boy!!! lol
he also sleeps on his back sometimes too so maybe hes just a weird little guy?! lol

Sammy also sleeps on the cage floor when he first "retires". He then moves to his nest box, but very often starts curled up on the floor though. :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

Oh those squirrels
Simon wont hardly even go into his cage any more now that he has finally ventured out.
He has a new ferret tent type bed and he wont even look at it.
He sleeps on top of the cage under many fleeceies pieceies.

Dusty starts of by sleeping in the fleece on her floor then goes into one of Jackie's cubes for the night. Bushy has always like the nest box and will drag whatever fleece is available in there.

You mean, you have not read about Peanut? Does this look familiar? (We actually put a cat bed in the bottom so he wasn't just sleeping on the wire. He also covers himself with all his toys when it got cooler, too!)

Even in an outside release cage, with the wire on the grass, he slept on the floor, would not go in anything.

Difference is, Peanut will NOT go into a nest box (or pouch or anything...hence he will not ever leave here.)

He is. He won't even let you bring him near a window....he freaks and jumps off and then sits there shaking. He was so traumatized by his start in life with a crow trying to eat him....can't really blame him. He is VERY SWEET (which is good, as he is a very big male with some of the biggest family jewels on a squirrel I have EVER seen!!!! lol)
