I have a little boy - Waylon who I have had since end of July.
He is suddenly a bit wobbly when he is sitting up and he is also eating very slowly.
He eats Kaytee mice/hamster blocks all day, a salad of greens, mushrooms, broccoli, tomato, grape, cucumber, various veggies each day. We have recently put a UV light over his cage and he has always been very healthy.
Last nite when I noticed the wobbles, I gave a tums.
He is doing a bit better this morning but I am wondering what may be the problem....I am not giving formula at this time. I do wonder if this might be the beginning of mbd? His backbone was a teeny bit bonier than usual although his fur is still looking and feeling normal....
Could the UV light ever be too much for him?

Thanks

Mouse hamster blocks are not what he should be eating. You want the Kaytee Forti diet for RATS - comes in a blue bag. This could bery well be MBD. I would continue boosting the calcium and if you can get him to start drinking formula again it is a great way to get weight back on him.

Sorry to hear Waylon isn't feeling so well. Hoping a change to rat blocks will help. :thumbsup

YEs, what CrM said about the block and formula,

Also, it will be very good to start Emergency MBD treatment
