My lil girl has a bald spot on her head..I had recently posted a pic of her molting, which I did not know that. the bald spot doesnt look like molting though. If anyone can look at it and tell me if it is in fact a part of her molting, I would really appreciate it.
I did recently post the molting pic, if you need to see that again, I can attach it too, but that seems to be getting a bit better.

Her bald spot is not red or dry or flakey, just balding. Not sure if the pic was showing otherwise.

It almost looks like she is rubbing it off....you know how a baby gets that "bald" spot when they sleep in the same position.....but it would be a little difficult for this to be from how she is sleeping....:rotfl
I don't think it's anything to be concerned about since there is no reddness or swelling or anything that look unusual.

I have been watching the spot very closely, doesnt seem to bother her. Earlier on when I found out about molting, Island Rahabber had said she may be rubbing on her cage, but I havent seen her doing that either.
Her molting spots seems to be coming in and the fur that is coming is much fluffier and seems thinner, not the same as her other fur, but still seems to be coming in so I am not worried about that part of it for now. How long is the molting stage for her? When will it become like her other fur again? How long will she molt?

What was she fed as a baby and did she have any digestion issues? The reason I ask, we had three this year with pretty severe digestion issues and although we did get them through it, they ended up with kitten fur syndrome (thinning fur that they do molt out and get better fur on a good diet). They have no lasting problems from it (provided they are getting a good diet).

If it is not red, dry or crusty, I wouldn't be overly concerned, esp. if she is eating a healthy, varied diet. (Cutie patootie btw!)

Thanks for responding Pappy...she was fed puppy formula, pedialtye, and was great with it, no digestion problems at all. She did everything she was supposed to be doing.
Her diet now consists of cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, green bell peppers, some squash, cabbage cores, and has been eating rodent block faithfully since she started eating. She was actually eating the block before anything, even while she was on formula. After reading and memorizing the nutrition guide, she now only gets 2 nuts a day and sometimes none at all during the day.She also has a new light now with uvb above her cage because I was worried about her not getting sunlight. I dont intend to let her go outside at all because of the dangers. There is a pic of her cage in the "cage and nest box" threads here. Maybe some other suggestions, but I think I am doing pretty good with keeping her happy and healthy. She seems to be a very happy and healthy lil squirrely girl. and thank you, she really is a cutie pie, i love her so much.

:wave123 Mavryc has a smaller bald spot on his head in about the same place and and i could not for the life of me figure out what the problem was but then someone on here (cant quite remember who) told me that it was most likely from him rubbing his head on the bars while trying to escape!!! lol he usually is quite entertained but because of us being so busy with chiristmas and picking up extra hours at work he wasnt getting as much out of cage time and was doing this out of boredom lol but it was nothing to worry about and the hair is growing back!!!

this may or may not be the case with your skeeter but it looks very similar to me !!! good luck :jump shes a cutie btw!!!

Well, last night, I think I found out why!!!
Where her hammock is in her cage, we have a tree limb almost going through, while she was in there, I notice she was slightly moving the limb...Im thinking she is rubbing her head on that when she sleeps in her hammock. So my son has removed it and we will see in time if that was where she was rubbing. :dono

How funny that you noticed her rubbing, that's what I thought right off the bat, but couldn't figure out how in the heck she would get a bald spot there....:rotfl :rotfl Mystery solved!!!!!!!:D

I certainly will Nancy, and thanks. The support on TSB is unbelievable. I love this place. And my little cutie pie benefits from all the stories and tragedies I read. We can only learn from mistakes to make their little lives happy and healthy. :Love_Icon :thankyou

Ok, it has been 2 weeks since Skeeters bald spot, at first, i thought it was the tree limb, but after removing it, the spot went completely bald, but seems to be coming back a wee little bit. Still no redness, no dryness, seems to be in the same spirit being a monster and a cuddly play thing all in one.

Her diet....does she need more calcium or other nutrient?
Kaytee and Mazuri rodent blocks, she eats all day long. Since I have been giving only 2 nuts a day, seems she is eating alot more of them and drinking alot more water. Is this ok?

still getting broccoli, cauliflower, green peppers, brussell sprouts, mushroom, some sweet potato, some green beans
All veggies are fresh and cut, but not too small

I tried to be as explicit as I can, I dont have a way to take a pic right now, as soon as I can, I will.
I worry too much is what my son tells me, but, I just have to make sure I am doing what I should be doing.
Thanks for any and all suggestions/opinions

Go ask Rachel Carducci on Facebook. SHe had a balding problem with Bean that she solved with a diet change. I think avacado played a role, but I'm not too sure. Mr. Bean became and remains quite a furry little man.

If you have any Revolution, you can put a dot of that on her in case it's mites.
Do you have other animals in the house that go outside?
Her diet seems good, and with the Kaytee and Mazuri she can eat as much as she wants.

thats what I thought with the rodent blocks....AND NO, I dont have Revolution...where do I get some of that? What is that? I did see it mention a couple times here...
I have 3 cats but they are also indoor cats.
Would Skeeter be scratching if it were mites? Because she isnt scratching...just the normal little scratching that a squirrel does...:dono
