Hi guys! I gave Darwin a little bit of his first avocado tonight. I left for a little while, and when I came home and brought him out for kissies and snuggles he stunk! It didn't smell up the whole room but when I got up close he smelled like a really bad fart. I put him in a large cat carrier just so I could get a better look at his cage tray. I didn't notice anything alarming so I just cleaned it and put it back. When I went to take him out of the carrier I saw he pooped in there and it was soft (he stepped on some and it flattened) but not runny. I didn't take pics because it really didn't look unusual except that they squished flat when he stepped on them.

He was sleeping when I came home but when he heard my voice he woke up and played like a maniac in my room like normal. I heard him moving around in his nest box to get comfy a little while ago but that's about it. He is acting normal.

Could this just be his stomach not agreeing with the avocado? I'll check on him first thing in the morning and see how he's feeling/smelling. He usually smells so good! I don't see any poop on him, he must just smell from having stepped on the poo. If its not good for him to be on his fur or something then I will def wash him, but I don't want to put him through the stress of a bath if its just icky for me. I'll give him kissies all day even if he stinks! But seriously, what's the deal?

thanks guys!

It could be the avocado. Keep an eye on him today -- no more avocado until it clears up. And yes, wipe him down with some mild soap and warm water (Dawn is always safe) Squirrels, like cats, hate being dirty & stinky.

I know when Tiffy had stinky poo she had an intestinal bacteria and was put on antibiotics..

I would say its probably the avocado...if he never had it before it might have not agreed with him!!! remeber that they can only eat the meat of the avocado no skin or seed...its toxic!

Darwin is doing fine today and smells much better! Not like his usual yummy self, but better. Yeah, I'm not gunna give him any more avocado. He liked it, but I felt bad his tummy was upset:(

Thanks guys!
