At the moment I am staring out the window I am counting 6 Squirrels. Now I know Momma and her 3 tails that must be about a year now. It seems though every few days Momma comes and presents another baby ???. She has within the past few weeks presented 3 more babies, I mean by the look of them possibly a few weeks, just it seems barely have grown their fur. Now I can understand with the recent windstorm she might have picked up some orphans.
I don't mind the company as they - the newcomers - when I was doing some garden work on the weekend all came and introduced themselves, I was sitting on the ground pruning some plants in pots and they came to say hello.

Is it normal for her to keep getting them? I know they are not hers and I know she is their foster Momma, she never lets them out of her sight. ????

:thinking

Look at it this way, she is doing a lot of work that would otherwise have to be done by a rehabber! I wish I had some like her here!

:) i'm totally confused.... i didn't think they fostered....

so do you know for sure that there's 6? or are you seeing the same 3 twice?

i know ... i'm sounding silly ....

can you speak more about this??? maybe some photos?/video?

i've never had them being introduced to me or having them introduce themselves either.....

usually the mother ...although semi tame/trusting etc... would be around and the babies would not be as scared of us etc... but still not enough to come up to us without us doing a lot of coaxing with nuts etc....

:thankyou

um ...hang on ...the first 3 are about a year old????

then the second three would be hers ....

they can have up to two litters a year up here in canada ... and i think 3 in florida.....

It could be her own litters but also fostered.
I read an article once about squirrels adopting their close relatives babies in some rare cases.

PS. There's other interesting squirrel articles linked there too!
