How long will rodent block (store bought) stay fresh outside? They hardly ate any of their block yesterday and I'm wondering how quickly it spoils? (Its in a covered area where rain/pee can't get to it.) How can you tell if it's spoiled?

I am not sure of the exact answer to your question, to ease my mind when this happens, after the block has been "out" for 24 hours, I remove it and throw it away. I am sure it is still fine to be consumed, but this system works for me and I am also 100% positive that they always have fresh food.

Keep store bought block in the freezer. It will keep longer than sitting on a shelf.

If it is a block such as Harlan Teklad or Kaytee they can stay in their pens for days.

I clean them out weekly when I clean their pens.
