I noticed that Lulu (grey squirrel 1 yr 5 mons) has a tiny lump where her belly button would be. Is this normal?

It is not visible. You can feel it rubbing her tummy. My cat has a belly button hernia that he has had his whole life. It reminds me of Lulu's tiny lump. The lump is about where her umbilical cord would have been.

is it just raised or discolored too?
do you feel any heat/fever?

No heat and not protruding from skin. Its under skin and very tiny in belly button area. I just feel it when rubbing her tummy. Very small internal lump.

Is it a hard lump or does it feel more squishy? Does it feel like it is just under the skin, or does it feel 'attached' to anything? Approximate size (small pea? Plain m&m? Grape?)

Didn't lilidukes have a baby kitty that had a belly button hernia...send her a PM..she may have more info on what to watch for etc...
I have no experience other than reading about others ..
I would say if it is getting larger to get to a vet...

:poke We would love to see Lulu, it's been awhile since we saw those cute helicopter ears!:Love_Icon

It is the approx size of a very blunt pencil point that desperately needs sharpening. Maybe just a hair bigger in diameter but pretty close. It is rather small. You cannot see it but can feel it only. It feels attached to something inside of her and not her actual skin because if I place my finger on the spot and pull the skin around with my finger, the skin slides around and the lump stays in the same place. It does not move. It is near her upper belly area. But definitely below rib cage. It is also pretty centered on her tummy. I cannot say for sure if it is hard or squishy. The layer of flesh over it makes it hard to tell. It does not feel hard like a rock but the squishy could be from the layer of skin.

Waiting on a reply back from Lili. If anyone has anything to add, I would greatly appreciate it. I was trying to research lumps in squirrels on google and have really gotten myself into a panic. Thanks for any help.
