When going out to a late breakfast at our favorite place in town, I noticed a wild squirrel sitting near the dumpster out back. I had pulled up with a noisey diesel truck right next to him and he had not moved. I got out of the truck and talked to him from about 10 feet away. he seemed alert to look at me, but not the typical " squirrleyness". I walked toward him with my son ( another squirrel lover), and he did not run away, just slowly kind of walked off and stopped. he moved slowly, as if his body was in pain, but not dragging anything. he was missing patches of fur all over and unless I could get my hands on him and look him over, I am not sure if this is bald patches or maybe he got beat up by something. One good thing was that he had been busy eating black walnuts and the dumpster is near a walnut tree and they were all over the ground. I saw all chewed open and many more untouched ones for the future. I will keep my eyes out for him next time I am there.

Can you net him and bring him in for a few days or weeks?? I notice you are also in the NE. It is cold here now. He also maybe could use some extra food left by the dumpster. Even an ibuprofen laced pnut butter cookie. I hate seeing wilds struggle. Bless this little one.

So sorry to hear of that poor little guy's plight. It souns like this might be a case of mage... and he might be weak from it. If you could capture and keep him safe and warm and ry for a while, with some proper care he might have a chance. Poor thing, especially with the colder weather coming. :(
