Using food bowl as a potty??????

Can anyone tell me why Nelly would be using her food bowl as a potty and still eatting out of it???? She has a potty in the bottom of her cage and on the first level is where I keep her food. On the thrid level is toys and her hammock is hanging there also. She will eat and sleep in her hammock but never uses the bathroom there. I am thinking about hanging her food bowl up by the hammock so she can get her food while she is in it, think she would stop going to the bathroom in it then????

Simon has five levels, bottom, where he throws what he doesn't want, 2 3 4 are for play on 4 he also eats and has water bottle and chewy sticks and antler and cutter bone top level he sleeps and stores.
As far as peeing goes, I have to do that for him, so I wouldn't know the answer for that, just guessing, I would move the food up, cant hurt to try, I would keep a bowl there for him to pee into tho since he is already doing that.

Some do and some don't. Some squirrels only do it when they don't approve of the menu....others just do it for the heck of it. Anyway, it's totally normal. :tilt

Here is Nelly's cage
