We live on the Fla Pan Handle about midway and since this past spring we are just not seeing the squirrels that we use to. For the past years there would always be squirrels at the feeder most of the day, everyday.
They are gone for now and not even seeing them in the neighborhoods. I know we had a very hot summer and last year we had the B.P./Govt Oil Spill along with all the nasty toxins. I am wondering if it killed off a lot of our wild life. Also we have fewer birds and fewer species of birds at out feeders. I noticed the decline of birds last year, but now its the squirrels. Has anyone else noticed this trend? I am a naturalist and spend a lot of time outdoors and in the woods and have for most of my life.

Hi Bobby

I am in Central Florida near Daytona and have the same thing here, went to the park where I love to walk the dogs, the little guys there all seem to know the dogs are on a leash and just sit there jeering them, but yesterday I didn't see even one!!
My back yard has some but not like usual .
Was wondering if extra dry and extra hot summers made the Mama's produce less milk.
