I try not to bathe them unless absolutely necessary... but if so, then the best soap to use is Dawn. Also make sure the water is warm enough and that you sponge/towel dry your little fuzzer very well. I sometimes use 2 or 3 towels even, meaning when one is damp, I switch towels and rub him - gently but very well and put him back in a very warm room with plenty of fleece and a rice buddy to cuddle up with.

would a bath 1nce a week hurt anything?
why do you want to bathe him?
usually, only squirrels with handicap of some sort, that poses a risk of urine burn, are bathed frequently.
Normally, squirrels do not need baths.
at any rate, a weekly bath is absolutely unnecessary and may stress him out much.

I have to bath mine every day, because of his handicap, he pee's on himself even tho I express it for him several times a day.
I use Aveeno body wash, it is very mild and doesn't have any perfumes in it.. which is the biggest culprit of irritation and allergy .
Then I put A & D ointment on him to protect from pee burn . It is working very well for me .
There is a post under ""FLASH""
Where she is giving him a bath. don't know how to put it here.
I can't do it the way she does.
Simon goes into a large tub of warm water and soaks and has water therapy at the same time. I rub him all over , when I hold him and try wash him he doesn't like it.
Then he is wrapped into a towel , then another just like scootermom says
They are all different that's for sure. I change his bed fleece blanket twice a day and the other fleece coverings once a day to help keep him clean.
This is not what your "normal " squirrel would need but I give lots of bathes so I thought I would throw in my 2 cent

I agree. i only bathe our little one a few times in the 2.5 years she's been with us. And that is only because she had fleas the day I found her and the other times she got into my water ice and was sticky. As long as they are kept clean they pretty much self groom. The times we did bathe her was kind of traumatic for her and we ended up getting sliced pretty bad.

If you have to bath please use baby bath/wash.

Bathing a squirrel can sometimes be like giving a cat a bath if you don't know what your doing.:rotfl

I use a baby wipe to wipe Nelly off sometimes. Has anyone else done this?

when Mavryc was still in his baby box he'd get pretty stinky (guess it was the lack of ventilation??) so i tried to bathe him and ended up looking like i did the tango with Freddy (krueger that is :D ) so after that i used baby wipes (unscented) once a day and it worked out for us both i found he "tolerated" it better if i warmed them first :D

now that hes in his big boy cage he is no longer stinky and neither is the cage so we dont need them anymore :jump
