Hi I was on the main page
http://www.thesquirrelboard.com/baby_squirrels.htm
I know the new version of the puppy milk replacer ESBILAC is no longer recomended but I got the impression it was equal to FV from the wording on the page.
"There is excellent milk replacement formula available everywhere, in pet stores and online. The PROVEN FORMULA FOR BABY SQUIRRELS is puppy milk replacer. ESBILAC, and Zoologic, made by PetAg, Inc., "
I would expect the admin should delete this post so it does not cause confusion in the future but in my short time here I know this is where the heavy hitters can be found.

Good catch. Should be replaced with Fox Valley since that is the formula that the Squirrel Board is recommending. I am sure Island Rehabber, the administrator will see this post. Hopefully she will comment on it and if not a PM can be sent to her attention about this.

It is not in the forums if you go to the index or default main page for the site http://thesquirrelboard.com/ and then click on baby squirrels in the top header that is the page. Probably nobody on the forums ever looks there but the public would find that page first

It's when you go to:

www.thesquirrelboard.com

which is what new people would see as they would have to then click on SQUIRREL BOARD FORUM

P.S. You got me checking my spelling on squirrel every time now! :D

Edit: Pat, you are too fast for me! :jump

That is the exact page that I came to from a google search, and ultimately found my way to the rest of the of information!
I did start with Esbilac because of that blurb. I now have FV on the way, since I stuck around and continues reading. :)

That was my concern that the person who is shaking with excitement because they have this baby squirrel in hand and no idea how to care for it will find that and maybe never look at the forum, Glad you dug deeper I raised my first baby on that stuff a year ago and his poop was runny the entire time. I was lucky it did not kill him but he grew slow I know now.

Unfortunately I'm still unable to change that page......but thank you for the reminder! I must make the long journey to the Eye of Sauron (aka VBulletin tech-heads) to request a special Grant of the Powers of Edit.....then maybe I can finally purge us of the Evil Esbilac!! :duel:starwars

I raised my babies on Esibilac. I was told to use it by a rehabber. Maybe this is old school? They look very healthy, but now that you said that I have always thought the look small in comparison to other squirrels I see on the forum of the same age, And why I can't believe they are old enough to release when they look like babies still to me. Is this going to affect them later? Is there nothing I can do to counteract any adverse affects from this?

Thanks patjones for bringing this up. I also noticed the page endorsing Esbilac and I knew that it was contrary to everything I had read here. The reality is that Esbilac is actually very expensive compared to Foxvalley. At Petsmart a 12 oz can of Esbilac was almost $30 compared to $10.95 for 1 lb of FV. If a newbie reads the endorsement and puts out $30 for Esbilac and then finds out it is NOT recommended they might be less inclined to make a second purchase especially if money is an issue. Thanks IR for your efforts to correct this problem.

Awww...actually Squerly rocks, the original founder of TSB. :bowdown He is going to make sure that gets changed. It's not a regular page: I can edit any thread or post on any regular Forum here. That page, however, is like the hard cover of a book: you can't just go in and edit something. That's why I haven't fixed it all this time. :sanp3
