Okay, Sammy has been going outdoors for the majority of the day in what was to be his release cage, but turned out to be his daytime "digs". He has definite ideas about going out even these chilly mornings. He does NOT like any deviations to his routine. However, tonight it is getting well into the 30's and I am not sure if it is okay to let him go out there in the morning. Is it okay to let him go out even though he hasn't really acclimated to the colder temps? He is indoors from 3 - 4pm until 6:30 - 7am. He gets really freaked out if I try to delay his outdoor time, but I will take the heat if it is what is best for him.
What do you think?:dono

Personally I think he should be fine. This is his routine, and he is full grown and has a nice coat. Can I assume that you have a heated nest box with tons of fleece out there for him too?:poke :poke
Mama, you worry too much.....:) :grouphug
But to be honest, Fluffer slept in the garage last night in the nest box on the cabinets, and I too was wondering if that was too cold for him. We have a thermometer in there and it was only 64 degrees...:shakehead

I must confess, I did look at hand warmers at Walgreens tonight and wonder if they might make a good "nest box warmer":jump
I just can't have the little darling catching cold!:osnap
He is really funny in the morning. If I don't get moving he starts going into his cage and doing repeated upside down hippity hops on the ceiling until I get the point that he is READY.:jump
I'm not too well trained:osnap

You are funny! Actually, handwarmers are used by some in the nest boxes.:thumbsup He's probably so anxious to get outside because he's dying of the heat....:rotfl

You guys are so funny! The little knucklehead is outside eyeballing the neighbors right now. I forgot it is Friday morning so it was garbage collection morning. Very important to be out there watching everyone bring in their trash barrels!:crazy
JIT, I told His Highness this morning that he was either going to have to get used to staying indoors or wearing mittens on all 4 feet! Possibly a pair of Dr. Denton "feetie pajamas"!:jump
Nancy I can't believe it but they are calling for possible snow here tomorrow too! Not shovelable like yours though! Way too early for that :osnap :osnap :osnap
