Mia is just recovered from diarrea. She had been on Esbilac (I was unaware of the problem with Esbilac). She has been on FV for 3 days, and is still moderately weaker than her brother but trememdously better than a few days ago. She is moving her back legs but, somewhat dragging. Almost as though a frog swimming in water--not able to stand up on them.

I will try and find an answer to this for you. Until then just keep her on the FV.

How long has she had this weakness? Could she have been injured in anyway? I tend to think it may be a problem more with her back/spine than with formula, but I am so glad you changed to FV.

Check back for more input-others will see this soon.

I had a little female come in after the storm not using her rear legs at all but did have some feeling in her legs. When I would pinch her toes she would react slightly to the pinch. I started her on infant motrin(ibuprofen) for 5-7 days, 2x per day. I am over- wintering her and her siblings but she is now using her back legs as though nothing was wrong. I will watch her closely this winter. I believe she is just fine. I will dose the infant Ibuprofen if you need help with dosing.

Marty

EDIT; To dose I need her weight in grams

She did not seem injured before becoming sick. I have had this litter 2 weeks; she became sick after about one week (on Esbilac). Then 24 hours pedialite; and has been on fv for 3 days. She is still somewhat weak, but eating great, diarrea gone now, and is gaining weight each day. Legs appear almost under-developed.

She weighs 98g, would appreciate ibuprofen dosing.

squirreler if you could wait until tomorrow for the ibuprofen dosing ..i don't know what it is and i don't know if anyone else will be on by then....

is it possible that she's just weak cause of the diarrhea and after a week or more she'll be using them more and getting stronger?

You want INFANT ibuprophen only - it is a liquid, and sweet - they usually love it. This dose of the their infant strength only:

98 grams would be 0.025cc every 4 hours as needed.:thumbsup

you might want to contact Atlantasquirrelgirl and see if she will take a look at Mia. She is a experienced rehabber close to you and can probably assess Mias condition as to whether she has been injured or this is the result of poor nutrition.

By the way welcome to TSB:Welcome

I'm not in the state at the moment. Try a few people on this list that are the closest to you:

Thanks so much. I have not had any luck with finding a nearby rehaber to look at Mia, but I am taking her to my local vet this afternoon. They are not extremely versed in wildlife, but have attempted to help me before.
