Hello, we are first time parents and have some questions???
Best guess is he was two weeks when we brought him home September 26, 2011; so about 6 weeks now. Last week he was checked out by one of our wonderful rehabbers!!! FloNYC, and is ok!!! IR has answered many questions and Flo also sent a great email with wonderful instructions!!!
Now this week… Oh boy!!! Just got used to baby Wort and he has gone and changed on us again… LOL
About two or three days ago, seemed like over night he got so active, bumping around and climbing; then last night his left eye opened (not fully) and as of this morning the right one is starting!!! Despite the activity and curiosity, he still can’t find the nipple, on his own when feeding. (Should this be worrisome)???
Also, he is teething, gently nibbling fingers (once in a while a pinch). now when he starts to get rambunctious, an easy no, returns him to gentle nibbling or chewing on our shirt. (Sometimes he bites his own foot or tail and grunts...) He definitely needs something to chew! I bought apple sticks, but he doesn’t like them? He is definitely curious, but when he tries to bite hard, he quickly turns to something else.
So, I just ordered Henry’s Squirrel Blocks-Growth Formula... We don't want to get "willy-nilly" with what he gets.
Now the confusion… I have read here on the board that he should be introduced to foods around 8 weeks (blocks, fruits & veggies).
I have also read that putting the blocks in at 6 weeks will get him used to the smell and taste?
I also read it is best to start with the blocks because if he has the fruit and veggies first, he may not want the blocks he needs?
Is there something else he should be chewing?
When (if not now) and how much of the block should he get? How often?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
