Hi
I notice that acorns are listed under "wild foods" and also under "nuts-treats". How many should I allow a day...If it is a "wild food", then I would think a lot? If its a "treat", not so many?
I ask because I have pounds and pounds of them and froze a lot to last the year. I can get a lot more also (if anyone wants some, let me know).
Also I ask because Im having feeding issues with Stella, who won't eat her hhb's or block...she barely gets a fv feeding each day (I can get about 9 cc's into her). I can see myself getting into a trap of feeding her treat foods just to see her eat.
Thanks....Maria

I can see myself getting into a trap of feeding her treat foods just to see her eat. This is when a wild food should be considered a TREAT...... when it is interfering with the eating of a Squirrels daily healthy diet.

We try to limit the intake of wild food that are nuts while we have a Squirrel in our care so we can get them eating as much healthy
food as possible so we know they are in good physical condition before we release them....... :D

I would advice that you not give nuts of any kind until the end of the day as it has always been suggested here on TSB....... this way
the Squirrel will have the opportunity to eat from a variety of healthy foods before they partake of their favorite food the NUT!!
