Ok, I was finally able to convince my dear neighbour to treat the formerly stray cat with ABs. She is very anti-chemical and wanted to try a lot of natural deworming treatments before she would believe me that ABs would probably be necessary for this.

The cat is still showing signs of giardisis even after months of being well cared for. When she first found us she was positively skeletal except for her giant, distended belly, though. Her flatulence was almost constant and had the most inconceivably foul odour you could imagine, too.

I know that giardisis normally clears up with good nutrition, but I think her infection might have been so bad as to make it more tenacious. She still has abdominal pain, a distended belly, flatulence and occasional nausea. All of her symptoms have greatly lessened compared to a few weeks ago, however.

I am hoping that an AB dose will clear it out of her system for good. What do you think?

I have some metro, and I would like to know how much we should dose per pound, how many times a day she should get it, and for how long. Unfortunately, a vet is not an option since my neighbour only recently got a job after months of unemployment. She is paying back debts and cannot afford it. Don't judge her for that, though. She has a heart of gold even if she can't afford a vet ;) This is an abandoned cat that she rescued, and it is not the only one that she has saved, either. She has rescued four cats this year and placed 3 in permanent homes after getting them spayed and neutered.
