Please help!
I am new to the boards. I live in an easily accessible house (to critters) in the city. About a week ago, my cats alerted to something in my attic late in the evening (11 p.m.). I have heard the chewing in several locations upstairs. There is no access to my attic. The critter is very likely coming in thru my mudroom in the back and climbing the wall from my kitchen to bedroom to attic.
I have witnessed chipmunks stealing peanuts from the mudroom, but they would take them to their underground home outside. I have also witnessed a squirrel in that mudroom (no food in there this time). She was climbing up the shelving unit.
I have never seen a raccoon, rat, or mouse in my house.
Could this be a squirrel even if there is activity at night? The squirrels in my yard are typically in bed by 7 or 7:30 p.m. I have never seen one out past dark.
I would be happy to have this squirrel stay for a little while, but this is not ideal!

Something nocturnal would be my guess....raccoon, opposum, or *shudder*, a rat. It COULD be a grey squirrel, but I kind of doubt it, possibly a flying squirrel, but I don't know. Maybe you could investigate during the day? But VERY carefully.......:jump

Mice can make a lot of noise.
