My squirrel Pippa has a malocclusion and I've had Anne Miller trim them once. However Anne is a 50 mile trip and `I was hoping Jackie or someone on here with experience would tell me what and how to do this myself.
What's the best tool to do this with? that the squirrel can tolerate too?
where do I buy this tool?
`any tips or tricks that calm the squirrel down?
She needs this done again asap so I need an answer asap ;) thank you!

Ps, is it possible that her teeth are growing faster than they should?

Thank you. I tried going to the Livesays website that was listed in those links by Jackie and it wont let me view the catalog. I tried to "sign up" as a member and they have to mail me an acceptance first and I haven't gotten a reply from them yet. thank you for sending me the link to `jackie's thread.
`sorry about all the typos in here, I'm trying to get used to a new keyboard and it keeps putting little ````` everywhere. it's one of those soft squishy water proof (squirrel pee proof) keyboards lol.

No I haven't tried reaching her through PM or phone. I think I'll wait a bit though as i tried to get a look at Pippa's teeth tonight and she had a fit!! I don't think I can handle cutting them unless I can knock her out first. Is it legal to buy chloroform ? Or is there something else that will knock her out for a few minutes?
Thanks,

If you can't handle her to look at her teeth, then you really should consider having a vet do it for you. IMO, it's not a good idea to try to sedate a squirrel at home. Florida is a squirrel friendly state. You should have no problem finding a vet to do. I'm sure Anne could give you some suggestions. Trust me. Christine is gentle & it takes two of us to cut her teeth. One to hold her still & one to cut. Please, check with some vets before you attempt this yourself. :peace

I'm thinking it's worth the trip to take her to Anne's. My vet is a little further away than Anne. My vet used to rehab squirrels herself so she's great with squirrels but I fear that would be more expensive than paying Anne. The last time it took Anne about 30 seconds to do it.
thanks!

Definitely worth the trip, IMO. Drive safe & say "Hi" to Anne for me. :grouphug

Best Calming STUFF Around...... Let them DRINK IT and RUB IT behind their EARS and on the BOTTOM of their FEET (30 minutes before TRIM).

Rhapsody...trimmimg little thin teeth is a wholenother ball game...:D
teeth get thick with age and are a wee bit trickier than Marvins little thin fragile teeth...
a whole nother ball game...
Sq Love/jo anne...
do not attempt to trim them yourself...it's super dangerous...
if a sq moves /twists when you are trimming , there is a big possibility that you can create tumors on the tooth root..
I would make sure the person helping has the correct tools, anyone can butcher teeth...
Teeth grow fast, every three weeks is an average teeth trimming schedule.
Odontoma removal is scarey, the top of the skull must be removed to remove the odontomas...this is a dangerous surgery, painful, expensive and NOT FAIR to the sq...
get help, make arrangements with a sq friendly vet in your current area...explain that they will need to be trimmed every three weeks and the money is an issue...
I had a vet tech come to my house for 6 months after the vet price went upto 78 bucks a visit...the tech charged 18 at my house...
she Taught me to trim...
tools are a very important part of the procedure.
Without the right tools GERMAN STEEL, you will no doubt have issues in the end...
please Jo, get help...
florida is legal...do not hurt your baby needlessly.:grouphug

`Wow, I didn't know that anyone had replied after legomom replied!
Anyway, I drove to Anne's last night and she trimmed the teeth again for me. I do have a squirrel friendly vet that used to rehab squirrels before she became a vet. The only problem with the vet is she's so popular they dont set appointments, it's first come first served and emergencies first of course. But if Anne can't help I can go to the vet.
I think I will just continue with Anne and learn from her for quite a while before I attempt this on my own.
Anne, if you're reading this, THANK YOU! I sent you the peanut butter pie recipe to gmail, hopefully I heard correct and that is where your email is at.
Pippa is happier today and groomed my hair for me (Pulled more out than usual hehe)

~PS, thank you to everyone who gave advice! And if I do need trimmers I will buy the better more expensive ones :-) Nothing is too good for my precious family of animals!
