I just wanted to post an update about Earline....the little "Disabled baby squirrel" from Hampton Arkansas. She is doing GREAT! Orginally there was some contemplation about amputating her broken arm, but instead we decided to give her some time to see what would happen...below is a pic of her USING the arm and standing fully on her own to eat some block.

This is WAY more than I ever expected, especially because of the dual weakness in her back legs...She is definitely smaller than her similar aged peers and will never be releasable as far as I can tell, but she is a happy girl and has a permanent home here with us for as long as she lives.
In addition to Earline, we have a ton of other babies out the wazoo at the moment and I wanted to share a bit about them too, some squirrel in nature, others not.
In July I took in a pinky foxer, umbilcal cord still attatched, she's actually older than the pic below now but it's all I had, here she as at about 5 weeks.

Also a baby grey who was cat caught...

We also have 3 other greys, and a baby foxer not pictured and a yet to determined baby incoming this afternoon!

Also here are some pic's of non squirrel babies who have been thru recently, some already released.

that's why I always think that an animal should be given plenty of time with its injury/problem (unless it's in excruciating pain etc), because you can only amputate/euthanize/etc once...
Please keep posting updates about Earline (and the other guys, too):crazy
