I have a young black squirrel that I got a few days ago. He was very thin when I got him. He is about 7 weeks ish. Anyhow he doesn't seem to gain weight and it is not easy to get him to eat. Just yesterday he started sneezing and has some difficulty breathing. White snot comes from his nose once in a while. I have him on FV with whipping cream added to help him gain weight. He has no visible injuries or parasites that I am aware of.
Any advice?
Does anybody have any antibiotics for him that I can buy?
His name is Boris.

squirrelfriend...check your pms, Runestonez has pmd you.
squirrelfriend has just called me ...boris has gone back to the unlicensed rehabber who found him...the lady has baytril for her rat.... and she's going to be taking care of him for the next couple of days.....
(she's passed all her rehab exams but doesn't have the outdoor release cages yet).

Runestonez has a grey that is close to Boris's age that would love a buddy. They do sooooo much better with kids of their own age.
I am confused at to WHY Boris is not finding his way to Runestonez?

Buddies are the best. I swear to you, I don't think I will ever raise another single again. Fluffer got into another scuffle today and is back inside. He is afraid of other squirrels...:dono I have stopped feeding here for the past month but they find there way here, and sure enough a female got a hold of him....:shakehead From now on....no more singles....even if I have to squirrel train one in from Florida....:D

:) he's on baytril right now at his original finders house who is also a rehabber ....
:) when he goes back to squirrelfriend (who is also a rehabber ((again unlicensed only because she doesn't have the outdoor release ) ....
boris has a mate at her house.....
:) i agree i'd love to take all squirrels to runestonez cause she has the best set up and also a very good vet available.... but squirrelfriend and her friend also have lots of experience with squirrels....
:) i will let squirrelfriend know that runestonez is happy to have 2 baby squirrels (boris and friend) to keep her singleton happy .... and then leave it up to squirrelfriend....
:) i have no idea what else will happen ...squirrelfriend doesn't get here much but i did give her runestonez phone number this afternoon :thumbsup

My friend who originally found him and gave him to me took him last night. She went to the rehabbing classes with me. She has antibiotics for one of her rats so she is going to dose him until he is better and then give him back. She can not keep him because her boyfriend would kill her if she got another. She already has one from a few years ago. We met on here as a matter of fact.
Boris does in fact have a couple of buddies his age here. Nathan and Lilly.
Thanks you all of you that came on this thread to help. I will keep you updated on his progress.

Well, I got him back from my friend today. He is doing much better! He is still a little snuffly but no more snot or gasping. He is much more bright eyed and has more weight on him now. He was not a strong eater before. Now he just sucks it down like baby squirrels usually do. What a difference. My friend gave me the meds to give him. so far so good. Just thought I'd let you all know how he was doing.

He's still not in the clear yet but he is WAY better than he was. Before the meds he was dull in the eyes, skinny, had snot, congestion, didn't want to eat andwas gasping to breath. NOw all he has out of all that is the conjestion. Quite a turn around for three days. I am so relieved. Once he is completely better he can be reunited with his buddy Nathan. They are about the same age. I just wanted to make sure that it is not contagious.
