150024Hi I'm thinking about buying my kid some yogurt, I found organic ones the easiyo brand which I think is from new zealand. anyway I was thinking about buying ti until I found this at a pet shop (check attachment),
I think it's a german brand for small pets. I'm wondering if any of you guys know this thing called yogurt drops. It's cheaper than organic yogurt I found on the web but I'm wondering which of them is healthier. Can any of you guys tell me?

Organic yogurt is going to be MUCH healthier than this product for your squirrel. The ingredients for the drops are as follows:
Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (Min.) 5.4 %
Crude Fat (Min.) 20.7 %
Crude Fiber (Max.) 3.3 %
Moisture (Max.) 3.0 %

Ingredients:
Sugar, Palm Kernel Oil, Whey Powder, Skim Milk Powder, Yogurt Powder, Corn Starch, Lecithin, Vanilla, Vitamin A Acetate, Cholecalciferol, a-Tocopherol Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin-5-Phosphate, Thiamin Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, d-Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex.

Any product who's first ingredient is "sugar" and contains palm oil is likely a sure no-no. The best thing about yogurt is the live cultures and enzymes that help your tummy with digestion, among other things. "Yogurt powder" in a non-refrigerated product doesn't have nearly the same effect.

Try to get yogurt that is full fat and low in sugar (but NO FAKE SUGARS LIKE ASPARTAME OR SUCRALOSE!!!). Stoneyfield makes a YoBaby yogurt that is pretty popular with the critter and human crowd alike. If you are mixing it into a formula, plain will do fine. If you are giving it alone, or have a picky eater you might want to try the fruit varieties like peach or the "cream on top" strawberry kind, or try mixing some fruit in it that you know they like.

Also, you can google "homemade yogurt recipes" and (very easily) make a bunch yourself for pretty cheap.

So, my advice is to give your squirrel real yogurt if you want the benefits of yogurt and give it vitamin-rich veggies and only vita supplements geared at squirrels specifically, (like "Squirrel-Booster" found here: http://www.exoticnutrition.com/en8542.html for $7.49 a package) if you are looking for a vitamin boost, :strong rather than a product which has neither benefit.

(And, in case anyone is wondering, no; I am not affiliated with any of the above-mentioned companies, other than being a consumer of their products.)

Hope this helps! mjs
