Mesmerise, I hope you'll keep checking back if you don't get some guidance right away. Someone with some experience is sure to see your post and offer advice. If not tonight, then tomorrow. Where in Illinois are you located? Do you have a vet you trust? Where was the abcess?

Could you tell us what you feed him, how long you have had it, how old is it, if this baby has seen a vet, what meds, human and/or animal, do you have available ? How did he come to you? did he have any injuries when he came?
How much does he weigh? - in order to dose meds, people will need to know how much he weighs.

Please check your private messages Inbox, too.

This sounds like rat poisoning, (warfarin) to be honest -- simultaneous blood in urine and from nose? Either that or multiple internal injuries. I would administer Vitamin K ASAP but this baby needs a vet....

Ruppert came to us when he was just about 2 weeks old. He is now approximately 12 weeks old. He is small and weighs about 4 ounces. He appeared to have possibly fallen out of his nest. From the beginning, he had one leg (left hind leg) that didn't have the range of motion that the right leg did. He tried to use it a little bit, but never really has improved very much. He has been on FV for about a month, but had been on the esbilac prior to that. He was thriving on the FV until he developed an abcess on his "bad leg".

We are medical professionals, and called a friend of ours who is a vet who doesn't live in our area for advice. After watching the abcess for a couple of days, we lanced it but only got a tiny bit of blood out. We decided that perhaps it could be a hematoma which would eventually reabsorb. We did continue to put antiibotic ointment on the area just in case. The area opened last night and I was able to get out a very large amount of yellow pus. We cleaned the area well and again applied neosporin. His appetite since the development of the abcess has decreased, but I have been able to get him to take th FV and nibbles of solids. Today, however, he is not interested in taking anything by mouth, but I will continue to try.

Last night when I fed him (after the drainage of the abcess) I noticed that there was a small amount of blood in his urine and he had a small amount of a bloody nose. I know he has not gotten into any rat poison, and his stools which have been formed and solid, are now looser and lighter in color. I know he needs some antibiotics, but where can I get them and where can I find a vet in my area that will treat him? We live in Springfield, Il. I have human zithromycin. My friend mentioned something about colloidal silver, but I am not familiar with that as an oral dosing as she suggested.

I tried to upload pics, but as of now, I am unable to do so. Please help!

he won't be eating as much if he's feeling unwell..but also dehydration ... will he take some homemade pedialyte or even a little bit of water with a touch of applejuice?

if you can please take him to kathie ... she's licensed and she's very good.
