I'll try to keep this as precise as possible.... 3 weeks ago I picked up 6 babies from a rehabber. They all had diarrhea and were on Flagyl and SMZ. I transitioned them to FV and finished the treatments and all seemed to get better. A couple still didn't have good solid stools though.

Then one of the males had his penis sucked on so hard it came out of the sheath. It was horrible, and I started to feed a little more often in hopes of combatting the sucking. I think I overfed, and then everyone began to have loose stools again. I cut feedings and added a great probiotic hoping to see an improvement but did not. I took a stool sample to my vet and had a fecal done. NEGATIVE!! They did say that if I could get a bigger sample they would send it off for me. (Kinda hard to get a big sample from little squirrels with diarrhea!)

I then did 24 hours of Pedialyte and a gradual reintroduction to FV. A few still have loose stools, and I don't think a couple of the squirrelitos look too good. They all run and play, but they just don't look healthy if you know what I mean.

At this point I'm thinking that I need to put them back on the SMZ or Flagyl or both. Is this the best foot forward? I HAVE to get this resolved!

The same thing happened with my 3 siblings..... three weeks of diarrhea and loose stools and it took another dose of SMZ (another 7 days) and some Imodium A.D. to help stop the runny poop...... hang in there.

Try some Full Fat Yogurt and Ultra Boost in the Formula to help get them back on a Healthy Track!!

Try giving a little canned pumkin (not pie filling) or baby organic pumkin.

Sometimes a second dose of ABs is needed...
only way to say for sure is fecal float etc. as vet has stated...
treat them again...
that's my vote...
I disagree with Immodium....nothing personal, just did not like what I read when doing the research.

I treated them with Immodium once, and it really didn't help anyway.:shakehead

Also, I just got some Ultra Boost from Nick, but I'm afraid it will just throw their little tummies into more turmoil at this point.

I treated them with Immodium once, and it really didn't help anyway.:shakeheadIt took several doses to help my little guys..... one dose is never enough (not even for humans) --
during the three week ordeal I probably used it on them every three days and let the medicine do the rest.... :thumbsup
