View Full Version : URGENT HELP NEEDED - OHIO!!
I have raised squirrels for a long time with 0 problems ever. Now I have a fox squirrel about 50 days old. It appears that some of the formula went up his sinus/nose and could have gone in the lungs, I don't know. He is constantly doing a sneezing and wiping his nose thing, but whatever is there does not seem to be coming out.
I am afraid for him and I do not know how to help him. We have a nature center, but I also fear they may just put him down. I know for certain they put down baby squirrels that they feel are too young to mess with. I have raised pinkie squirrels before and they have been fine but this place with put them down.
I really don't want to see this guy put down, but I don't want to see him die from this either.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME HELP THIS BABY?

Where are you located?
I am in Ohio, can you help? He is constantly sneezing actions like he is attempting to get something out...He is climbing and jumping. I cannot hear his lungs but through his nose I can hear him breathing. He has something caught somewhere...
I give you a video if it were possible and you could see him and hear him. He sneezes and it sounds squeeky like you rubbed a balloon or something.
can i call you and talk with you if you can help advise

I was at work, just got home, how is the little one doing? I am located in Northeast Ohio if you are also in Northeast Ohio feel free to PM me. Even if you aren't in Northeast Ohio, I have a list of all the licensed rehabbers in the state and know a few good ones scattered throughout the state from conferences and stuff. No guarantees, but I might be able to find someone near you that can help.

:thankyou SR&B2 :bowdown
He is better today. No sneezing anymore. Last night during his first hour or so of sneezing, he suddenly opened his mouth and then smacked his lips and tongue. Maybe he hacked up whatever it was and ate it. He is very active, appetite is good. I don't hear any wheezing or any sound when I listen to his chest..just the rapid fire heart beat.
I confess I was afraid for him. But he seems good today. :thankyou
I am very grateful for those who responded.

Glad to hear he is doing better today :thumbsup
Just wanted to let you all know that I called my mom and gave her the squirrel information. She said she did not believe the nature center would put it down as it was older and had its eyes open.
So I'm going to take it over there and drop it off. I think it is the best thing for the little guy as I work construction and my girlfriend works in a clinic. Neither one of us can take it to work with us. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so I'm gonna drive over, see mom, and then take him to that center.
thanks again:thankyou
