Hey TSB

I have been searching through the threads to try and find out the answer but I am getting partial answers. I wanted some information regarding my a nr grey I plan on applying to vet school "hoping to god this won't be an issue and I can stay in Florida!" but in case I do not get into Florida's vet school since I am applying out of state as well, such as, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Alabama, Kansas, etc I want to know how I can protect the nr grey squirrel AND flyers from any issues. Where are they illegal to have....and if I need a permit what kind of permit? how do I go about transporting them (I plan on driving regardless where I have to go but I heard it is illegal to transport state to state)? etc...:thankyou

I have been looking into this recently also.
Not POSITIVE, but...I believe the only legal states are Florida and South Carolina. Each state will have certain ways you can get around owning a squirrel and most entail becoming a rehabber (with the promise that you will release them) or buying one from a licensed breeder for the sole purpose of becoming a breeder yourself.

maybe, you could call Wildlife Depart (or whatever their technical term is) in the states where you might be going and ask them?... you don't have to name yourself or give any details. you can just stay that you are from Florida (where they are legal), but might, just might be temporarily moving to another state. How can and should you do, if anything?
