Ok so when you release a baby squirrel, Do you put a nesting box outside, or do you let them make their own nest? I was planning on puting a nesting bot onto a tree and let her live in there, but should I not now?:thinking

yes, before the release ppl put nesting boxes that the squirrel can use before s/he builds his/her own nest.

But how old is your squirrel?....
THey don't get released till they are 4 months old at least. Some release at 12 weeks old, but it all depends on how well adjusted the squirrel is and the area.
They should be released while there are still leaves on the trees.
Also, most of the time, if possible, Fall babies are overwintered (esp. in colder regions), since by the time they are released, it is too cold outside and, having been rehabbed indoors, they are not used to the temp changes as the wild squirrels are.
Also, being indoor squirrels, they have not stashed enough for the winter.
Of course, if you release them in your backyard, you could support them with food etc, but still.

I had an impression that your squirrel is still quite a baby and it's too early to think of a release... but, maybe, I am confused

oh, Florida!... that's a different story... yes, in Florida you don't need to worry about the cold and the absence of leaves:) :thumbsup
