hydration

I heard on this site that if you feed them water melon, it makes them hydrated... is this true? and if you give them water melon is it considered a sweet?

I have given water melon to my squirrel before she learned how to drink out of a dish or water bottle. It was the only way I could get fluids into her...also watered down apple juice(but she ended up dissinterested in it).

I think it's okay to do if you are in a pinch, but in the end regular old water is best.

I'm not sure about the sugars being too much part. I found this nutrition facts thingy for watermelon. It also has a little pros and cons thingy. Maybe it will help.

Very good info!
I use watermelon to get older babies hydrated. Its how I got Jude up and going in the beginning. He was bad shape...and very dehydrated. I did pedialite at the first and then offered him a piece of watermelon in between.

good news! when I left the house today, in about a few hours I came back and she has been drinking her water supply! I guess I dont have to worry about her not drinking water!:crazy :D :thankyou :grouphug
