Thanks. He is around 75 grams at last weigh this morning.I also wanted to ask could I mix the pill with pedialyte to give it a littler flavor for him.I though it was a maggot problem(as per my other post) and had a horrible time getting him to take that mixed in water.

I am assuming it's the pink SMZ-TMP solution...either way that amount should not harm

Do check what strength pill you have. Since it was your family members, it is probably a pill and you will need to put it into solution and draw up the correct amount....

Actually according to mammal book, it is 0.03 for a 75 gram baby (0.05 is for 100 gram), bid (stregnth: 50mg/ml, dosage 15-30 mg/kg) for at least 5 days. If used for coccidia, dose longer, usually 14 days or until 2 negative fecals 2 days apart.
So far so good. Doses look good.
More help on the way.

this is what Mrs Skul wrote:
This dose is what I have given to my Baby Grays and Baby Flyer in the past. What is the milligram of the SMZ TMP???
The dose for a 75 gm baby will be 3 little marks on the 1 cc syringe. That is 0.03cc You need to get every last drop in.
"Even if you have to give a extra 0.01 gm."" I would be giving this at least 2 times a day.
Just remember, I do not know how to dose medicine.:)
This is just what is on the bottle.

To get every last drop, pull up air into the syringe to the .3 mark. Then pull up your medicine 3 little marks from that (your medicine will stay in the tip of the syringe), but when you administer it, the .3 of air that you pulled up will push out all of the medicine. First try it with water, you will see exactly what I mean.
This should be no more than 2 drops.

Sorry it took so long to get back here.I don't know that strength of the pill.I don't know why the bottle doesn't have it on there.I looked it up by pill identifier but it says the pill can be anywhere from 800-160 mg?So I need to crush the whole pill and dilute it with water and then draw up to 3 lines on the 1cc syringe? Also can it be mixed with pedialyte instead of water? It is almost feeding time so can I give it to him now or do I need to wait a little before I feed him?

You know this really should be a sticky somewhere. When you are dosing pinkies, and the amount is so very tiny....that whole amount could stay in the tip, especially if you use one of these tips:
148673
This happened last year to me, when I had a pinkie. I realized that it was still in the tip, after the second dose.:shakehead
This great suggestion is from CritterMom. She is one smart cookie...:D
If possible, take the best photo of the pill, you can, and post it.
Is there anything that can be read, on it.

NO! NO! NO! Not the whole Pill! :nono
You will be using a small piece. Hang in there for a few. Lets see if Jackie or someone shows up.
Can you post a picture of the pill? Can you take a picture of the Pill Bottle? What was the medicine given to you for? How often did it say for you to take it? What Exactly does it say on the Pill Bottle??:thinking I have called Jackie. Hopefully she will come to the Board. :thumbsup5

According to Drugs.com, IP 272 is the 800mg tablet form of Sulfatrim. Hang on while we figure how much of that you need to dilute and then dose.

A vet had given me the dilution for 480mg tab of SMZ-TMP, which was "add 100ml water and dose 0.4 BID."
Therefore, can we dilute the 800mg tab with 200ml water and achieve the same solution -- same dose? Math people check me, please.....I majored in English.
2 more from kathie.....

5.30 pm .....
If she is dosing with a pill I will have to know the size of it in order to figure the appropriate dosage
Mary
.05ccs is for 30 mg/kg per Willowbrook who's veterinarians pretty much wrote the books....There is certainly a range when dosing mammals. Due to the fact that Coccidial infestations are difficult to remedy I would go with the higher dosage,

Needs dosing
sounds like the 800 sufa - 160 trimeth which makes it a 960 mg pill I am familiar with those...used for dogs
