Is my squirrel in heat and how long does it last?

I have a southern flying squirrel who I believe is about a year and a half old. I've had her for a year. She is very tame with me and will even come (most of the time) when she's called. Recently she has begun humping and biting my arm. She doesn't bite to hurt me she's just very insistent. If I shake her loose, she just hops back on and tries again.

Is this behavior a dominance thing like you'll see in dogs? Is she in heat? If so, how long will it last? And why is it only sometimes?

I'm newish to squirrel habits and am just looking for some fellow input.
