I haven't been on this site for a few years and on Monday was reintroduced to rehabing when a squirrel fell from my friend's tree. She is a very health 3 week old baby, and when I got her I noticed she had a 2 scabs on her head, but knew they were not caused by the fall because she was found within minutes of leaving the tree. I thought at first this was caused by litter mate nails scraping her head.
On Wednesday I noticed one toe on her rear foot was swollen, and assumed this was caused by the fall. But now it is starting to scab over and look very similar to the spot on her head, which if anything is starting to grow. I am now starting to suspect a fungal infection, but she is so healthy and thriving I have been very reluctant to put her on medication. I have animax as well as neosporin, as well as access to other medications, and am thinking about applying this topically, but I am a very nervous mother concerned about her rubbing it on her face (eyes closed still) or suckling her toe with topical medication applied. Please advise, how safe is animax on babies?
