Hi everyone! My name is Tracie,i live in the florida panhandle area and I'm new to the squirrel boards.I found this little guy shortly after the hurricane we had recently. He and his brother had fallen out of their nest and I heard them chirping all the way from the next street over.Me and my husband went to go check and we found one little one on the ground with his nose bleeding badly.I picked him up and went to take him to the house and I heard another baby! I turned around and found the little guy in the pic wayyyy up on top of the neighbors roof.I walkeed back home (after asking the neighbors permission) and got my ladder and grabbed him. They were really cold from being rained on so I put themon a heating pad.Sadly, the one who was bleeding badly kept continuing to bleed a lot out of his nose with some liquidy sound in his lungs.I tried to feed them esibilac bit fhe injured one would not eat at all and passed.... :'( The other little guy is thriving however and is doing really good so far.I do have a question though.can anyone give me an educated guess on his age so I can give him the proper nutrition he needs.Any other tips would be greatly appreciated also as this is my first time. :)

:rotfl I used to drive through DeFuniac Springs every weekend, on the way to Destin from Ft. Rucker.
It's a name I never forgot.

The little squirrel appears to be a little over five weeks old.:)

Lol! Sorry about the pic size. Thanks Stosh. :) I was just looking at pictures of a baby Rama. :) He's too cute!!! :Love_Icon

He's doing good. He's currently snuggled in the blankets of my bed eating a pecan. Hehe.Is it normal for him to be super skidish? He's been here for about a week and still hasn't really warmed up to me yet.He likes to hide when eating nuts ect too.Is this normal or is tere something I can do to help him be more comfortable?

Hiding while eating is pretty common.
At his age, he will act a bit ****tish. Quite normal.
If you intend to release, it's for the best.

Cool. Thanks for the info.I was worried I was scaring him or maybee he was intimidated because I'm bigger than him.Yeah,I love my little squirrely buddy a lot already but when I found him I called animal control (the only way I knew to get advice on caring for him at the time.lol) and they refered me to a woman here who cares for squirrels. She explained to me that they are good companion animals to a certain extent when your caring for them but when old enough they need to be released becaue they end up longing for the wild and become depressed. So as much as I love my squirrely pal I'm going to release him when he gets old enough. Makes me sad a little but makes squirrely happy and that's what matters.

There are times when things work out very nice, and the squirrel sticks around.
It's rare, but, it happens.

Mine hide in my pocket or burrow under the hay in their carrier. I am assuming since I have never seen a baby out and about that they spend their youth eating in the nest. I am sure he is quite comfortable and nothing to worry about.
