I just got informed that tomorrow I will be asked to take a 30 day notice on my home. I will not have these guys ready for release in 30 days. Can I move them out of state?
(I will be moving to FL where I do believe they have foxers, but there is the climate change issue) Option B other than moving them is to give them to the wildlife center, we have zero rehabbers out here, I have scoured the net.

I'm sorry for all the questions, but I need to decide on these guys ASAP simply because if my kids get attached they will need time to detach before we leave state.

what is your closest main city? ... we may have someone within a couple of hours of driving....

how old are they?

they are foxers?

you are only raising towards release? ...meaning they're releasable when old enough?

I don't believe they have that type of fox squirrel in Florida, so releasing them would be bad for everyone - they would have nobody like themselves... If I am not mistaken, Florida only has the big black and white Sherman fox squirrels.

But if you are driving to Florida, you will be going through many states with many TSB members who would probably be happy to help. It is not the same as having them in your backyard, but you can undoubtedly find someone who can give them what they need.

Yea, that's what I feared. It wont be for 25 days or so we will be making the move.
So far only 3 seem releasable. Would it be cruel for me to keep the 4th as a NR in FL?
I would have to find someone willing to send pictures to my kids, as they are so attached to these little runts. They call them brother and sister, and are going to be heartbroken, although I told them already it was a possibility we couldn't take them because it may be bad for them.

What NR foxer? I am afraid I don't know what you are talking about. Has someone here seen an NR foxer?:dono :thinking

NR's are different. I don't know if the vets down there, who are pretty squirrel friendly, would be less than agreeable...but there is a HUGE squirrel network in FL. May I ask what area?

Non-release?
She seems to be messed up in her head. She's the only one who won't feed properly. She won't suckle the syringe like the others, she acts a little... off. Shes the one who bit me. Scared us both a little, but didn't hurt anyone. She was also found hanging off a leaf of the tree, we had to knock her out of the tree, and she was caught, so she made a good fall, but landed in waiting arms. Those waiting arms did fall holding her. (My boyfriend literally fell on his face for this little angel)
We will be moving to the tampa area to start with, not sure were the map will take us when we get our own place (staying with a friend until we get an idea of the place and where to move). We will be staying in FL, just not sure which town we will find a home in. I'm willing to make an outdoor cage for her, she just doesn't seem (right now) like she will do well on her own anywhere.

My point was that nobody on here would think keeping a little non-releasable was anything but the right thing to do. And if you want squirrel help it is hard to beat the Tampa area. You will have all the help you need down there.
