A neighbor found this young grey in his yard, he was trying to climb up his grandson's legs so he brought him to me. I am wondering if Lil' Dave is "special" His head looks a little bigger than other squirrels this age and he is very uncoordinated, especially when handling food. I have him on formula and giving him calcium just in case it's MBD, sweet dried papaya to give him sugar. He will eat rodent blocks, apples, peaches, nuts and such. We had a problem with him choking on apple skin and walnuts so no more walnuts and we peel the apples now. I will post two pics to give an idea of size. If he is NR we will keep him. I also have a flyer named Wally, but they will have seperate rooms so there is no interaction. Any help is appreciated.

Wish the photos were a bit larger.
There are a few here that have worked with special squirrels.
Hope one of them pops in.

I know your concern as I have had the same feeling a few times, but from looking at the pics I have to say that he looks like a normal squirrel to me.
He just needs some time to grow up and the rest of him will grow into his head and he will get his sea legs in no time. :thumbsup
BTW --I always skin the apples before I give them to my Squirrels, even the Adults.... No since in taking the Risk IF You dont have to.

When you peel the grapes, remember to cut them in half and remove the little stem looking thing that runs through the middle. They can also choke on that. And when that happens it can scare you to death! Luckily, I was able to remove it from my squirrel's throat when it happened to me.
Good luck with him.

He is adorable. This is the 2nd thread I've read tonight about squirrels running up people's legs. Why can't I have a little angel run up my leg? I want a baby to love on and care for! I just have deck squirrels that snob me but love the food I give them. :D Best wishes to you and your little guy!

as Rhapsody said, everything will grow into his head;-)
Baby animals usually have larger heads, and baby squirrels can be uncoordinated when young. Don't worry, in no time he will be running all over you and jumping exploring all over the place, good coordination and all:D :grouphug
