Hi All:

Have 4 squirrels that someone's son saw the nest fall out of the tree. I picked up the squirrels 2 hours after this happened.

2 boys, 2 girls. One little girl is very active and is fine, the other 3 all have what looks like dried blood around the edges of their noses and mouth. I've attached photos.

They aren't dehydrated, fed them a diluted mix of FV. Has anyone seen this before, what should I do. All of them ate a little over 2 syringes full of FV mix.

I have a vet that provides services and I'll take them tomorrow, but want to do what I can tonight.

While it does look like they prob hit their little noses in the fall (hence the nose bleed) and with you saying they are acting fine --I would just keep them warm, hydrated and feed during the night and watch them closely..... and IF all goes well there may not be any reason to take them to the vet in the morning unless it makes you feel better by doing so.

When you did the Pinch Test (tent test) --they showed no Signs of being dehydrated? - needing any pedialyte right?

Just in Case:
Homemade Pedialyte Recipe:

1 tsp salt (teaspoon)
3 Tbsp sugar (tablespoon)
1 quart warm water

P.S.
We feed 5-7 % of body weight as NOT to over feed / cause bloat / diarrhea

It also appears, Kcassidy, pretty much knows what she/he is doing.
Love it, when that happens.
A check-in at the board is a good thing.:thumbsup

I trust you cleaned their noses with a warm damp cloth or cotton ball. If there's swelling in the nose it will hamper their ability to feed as they won't be able to suck and breathe through their noses. I've had good results with holding a warm compress on the bridge of the nose for a few minutes. Seems to open up the nasal passages.

Thanks everyone.

Noses are cleaned, only one little boy had some more come back. All the others are fine or so it seems.

Everyone ate this morning, not as greedily as they do once they are used to the FV, but still nothing off about it.

No tented skin, so I felt comfortable giving them the formula.

I'll get more pictures soon.
