Hi,

Can someone tell me when a fox squirrel will pee/poop on their own?

Thanks,

Generally after their eyes open. However, I continue to potty my grey squirrels as long as they will let me, because it keeps their bedding nice and clean!

I know thru Kelly Brady's thread about Paco and Pacquita that Paco was pottying her daughter long after her eyes opened. Mamma squirrel knows best! :thumbsup

Cool - thanks - I will continue the same, but not worry as much if they don't go :)

I do have a story to share and not sure if it happens to others. But the male never pees for me and I think it's because the females are stimlutating him constantly - at least when they are awake and hungry -- they think BD's penis is a nipple. :shakehead

regular suckling can lead to serious and, often, terminal health issues.
there are different ways to address this: sometimes, the babies are separated, other times, if they are truly hungry, some feeding adjustments are helpful, still other times, some people make a kind of vest out of a sock that would cover his little penis and prevent others from suckling....
I am sure people could share their experiences if you ask...

If I am mistaken, then, exp. rehabbers will correct me, but as far as I remember, suckling needs to be addressed....

Can someone tell me when a fox squirrel will pee/poop on their own?Generally with in a good two weeks after opening their eyes and moving about the cage on their own.... but I have to agree with the other post
--it helps to stimulate them when they are out of the cage in order to keep the cage as clean as possible.

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
