When should I release Rupert the raccoon? He was a spring baby. He is fairly large now. How should I go about releasing him. Would it be ok to release in my back yard so that I can continue leaving food out for him or will he just keep trying to get inside and destroy the house and yard?

not sure about age, but I would have him in an outdoor cage for a month before release - then a state park or wildlife preserve would be my choice.

If you have squirrels nesting in your area, I would not advise relaeasing near you.
They can, and do, raid squirrel nests on a regular basis.
Seen that many times.
