Why My boy has gained double the weight of my girl. Hes 90g shes 66g since I Have been recording their weight (about a few days after I got them) (8/18) She has only gained 27g. Him 43g. I have had other postings about their weight and why they have a slow gain but this just keeps bothering me. I have ordered the boost under recommendation from a few people from here and I am feeding them 7% of their body weight every 4 hours. I had previously been giving them 5% every 4.5 hrs. I am just wondering why this could be like this, is it possible she is a "the runt" of the litter? She is EXTREMELY active and eats like a pig. She actually opened her eyes before her fatter brother. ( eyes just opened friday) Any advice or comments will be greatly appriciated!

Some animals are like people as in they are just going to be SMALL no matter how much they eat..... so as long as YOU have ruled out any medical reason for her slow weight gain and she is healthy other wise I would NOT worry and just go along with life and ENJOY!! -----and do as they say "Be Happy" :D

Not sure if I was in on the other thread. You feeding FV with added heavy cream? Just a small bit to increase the fat content? Does the tiny girl poop more than the bigger one? If she does, maybe she is not digesting the food as well as he. Maybe mix half FV and half of our goat milk formula? I had great luck with doing this when I had a tummy issue with babies.
But....she may just be smaller. I had a littler of 4 and they were all differant sizes. Sounds like she is active and healthy. maybe add a feeding to the day for her?

Oneof the things I distinctly remember from taking Shirley Casey's 2-day "Squirrel School" is that she said grey squirrels vary SO MUCH in their sizes and weights that no "typical" or "ideal" weight chart exists for them at different stages of life. The only thing she would say is that the average ADULT grey weighs about one pound. I have found this to be so true in 7+ years rehabbing: there are runts and there are porkers, and everything in between. Sometimes they open their eyes and they still look like pinkies with barely peach fuzz....other times they are fully furred with semi-fluffy tails and haven't opened their eyes yet, but they can scramble up your back just the same. (Our member Bravo once called that "turbo-charged and blindfolded at the wheel :D. )
Your two babies look chunky & healthy....relax a bit. :)
