I seem to have a new concern every day!
I was just feeding Sandy and I noticed something wrong with her toe/foot. I am going to post a picture below.
This was the same leg that had a puncture wood when I found her. She didn't use the leg much at first, but now she seems fine and uses it. I touched the spot on her foot and it didn't seem like it hurt her, it just looks really swollen or something!

Hi HammyHobby :wave123
Can you post a picture of the top of the foot? Where was Sandy puncher? How long ago did she have the puncher? It could be 1 of 2 things. Just a Abscess (A splinter coming out.) OR Squirrel POX! Keep an eye of for more to start showing. Usually Eye, Mouth, Hands,Feet, and Arms, Genitals area. I really hope it is a Abscess. Do you have any Antibiotic? Baytrill is the best to treat Squirrels. I would start her on Antibiotic now! :thumbsup3
Also add Full Fat Yogurt to her Formula. StonnyField Makes a Generic Vanilla Called YOBABY! :thumbsup5 1/2 tsp Vanilla Yogurt to 1TBS FV POWDER
Giving the Antibiotic will mess up her gut Enzymes, so the Yogurt will help with the digestion. Good luck.
Let me know if this helps or if Pox. :thinking I have Jackie POX Protocol, I can send you. Christal

Oh my gosh... I hope it isn't Squirrel Pox. The puncher wound was small and higher up on her leg, but it has healed. She had several other small wounds and a bruise from her attack. This all was a week ago. I'm going to attach a picture of the top of her foot. She also has a bubble feeling thing towards the tip of her tail.
I have no experience was squirrel pox. I have full fat yogurt that I mix with her FV Powder. Where can I find Baytrill?

ALSO... I remember her having a cut/sore on her foot in that spot. Could it have gotten infected? If so, what should I do?

I still will send you the stuff on Pox just so you can read it. Hope one of these Members respond soon. You have my number Call if you need anything.
Hang in there. Christal.
Probably not pox.
Most likely, a sliver of wood.
Just observe for a day or so.

Christal -
I honestly can't thank you enough for all the help you have offered me! I followed your instructions when I made her new batch of food too. I'm just going to observe her, keep her well feed, and let her sleep. She was bouncing off the walls when I was feeding her earlier. She seems happy and content to me. I'll be sure to keep in contact with you about how she's doing.
:thankyou

Just an update, no new bumps, but the two have gotten bigger. It's hard to see the skin on the one that is on her tail, but the one on her foot is still red, but there is a little white spot that seems to be forming on the side.

Ouch! Does this seem to be painfull to her? Looks like a little abcess to me. And if it grew this much bigger, this fast,,, I REALLY think it is an abcess. It will blow out on its own. then clean it up, flush it if possible and triple antibiotic.

It doesn't seem to bother her that much. She's very active. Her eyes just opened Friday night. She scurries around when I'm trying to feed her and likes to dart around for a few minutes and then she's sleepy again! She also has one on her tail. When she fell out of the tree last Saturday, my mothers dog got a hold of her, but luckily he listened when we told him to release her! She had injuries in that area. The one on her tail is growing just has fast.
I'll keep an eye on it. If/when it does blow out, should I put something on the area after I clean it like neosporin?

I recommend getting those feet and hand bumps examined by professionals just be on safe side...
Hate to see it worsen with time; whatever it is, best to get medical recommendation and treated with care.. :) :)

Would be best. Hard to diagnose from just photos. The apparent increase in swelling, gives me a little concern.

I don't really know where to go with it being the holiday weekend. Or who to take her too. I'm in the Tallahassee, FL area. I also don't want to take her somewhere that is going to make me give her up. I think she does need to be on antibiotics, but I don't have a prescription or know how to get one. :(

Also, I called the closest Wildlife Association, and the woman I spoke to was rude, and wouldn't tell me if I could bring Sandy home with me or not if I brought her in. I have also spoken to another person who had dealt with the same place and I'm terrified of taking her there. I want to find somewhere to take her that can look at it and treat it, but not take her from me. I feel like I've done a great job with her and have invested so much emotion and time. Maybe someone in my area on here can help?

Can you put some hot compresses on both of the abscesses? That might help with the infection, maybe help them open up and drain. A hot compress is just a cloth dipped in very warm water and placed on the infected area. With the foot, you might actually be able to soak the foot in the warm water. It should be very warm but not hot. If you can add a teaspoon of Epsom Salts to the water, that helps draw the infection.

Thanks for the tip!
And yes, this place is a godsend for little squirrels! I'm so thankful I was able to get the medicine Sandy needs AND the name of a squirrel friendly vet in my area in case of emergencies!
