OMG---I just got my baby up for a feeding and he's making all these clicking sounds (and little, I guess, baby squirrel cute sounds). I'm so scared he has pneumonia! I feel like such a horrible squirrel mom.

He's still at 20 grams---only gained two grams since I found him last Thursday. I don't think he aspirated, but tonight I was worried once because the syringe stuck and I pushed a little too much in his mouth. Could that have done it? He's still on the goats milk formula--I thought his FV would come today but hopefully tomorrow.

It's almost 1am. I can take him to the vet in the morning. The ONLY antibiotic I have in the house is Zymaxid, which is for the eyes (I had a torn retina in Feb). I just read up on it and the active ingredient is gatifloxacin, although I have no idea what that means. It's .5% solution (liquid).

Should I feed him eyedrops?!
Should I feed him his meal?

He's not clicking as bad as he was five minutes ago. Could he be making squirrel noises and I'm misinterpreting it?

He's hungry...any chance this is just saliva/lip smacking sounds and I'm overreacting?

CALM DOWN!! --Hold his CHEST up to your ear and listen (quietly) --is he clicking now? -- if not he is ok. ---Babies will click off and on when they are being feed at times and that is ok.

You should ONLY be feeding your little one from a syringe....... 1cc for babies under 4 weeks and a 3cc for babies 4 weeks and older..... do you have one of those?
- if not go to your local Pharmacy tomorrow and ask for one, they are pretty good at giving them out for FREE!!

AND YES...... go ahead and feed him now..... just GO SLOW!!

Yes---I'm using a 1cc syringe. It was fine until today---it's kind of sticking. I ordered more with the FV milk and nipples.

I can't really tell if it's clicking or lip smacking. It's not as bad. I went ahead and fed him (and he pooped finally! Geez!). Am I overreacting?

I think the sounds are coming from his mouth, not his chest. He's still a pinky, though so it's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure.

So you think he's okay and I don't have to shoot my antibiotic eyedrops down his throat? lol! Really, you think he's okay? Bless you for being here for me through all this squirrel baby stuff. You have no idea how much I appreciate you.

...I was seriously about ready to run to the ER.
