Hey all, for those who remember me, my first two kits were released recently, happy and healthy :) Now, today, I ended up finding another baby!

He's very skinny and lanky, so I think he may be 3 weeks... Fully furred, open eyes, but not filled out at all yet. He didn't appear to have fallen, I found him sprawled and grasping the base of a tree, and he has no injuries that I can see. I tried pinching his skin but its very taught, so I figured he wasn't dehydrated and fed him after warming him up. He doesn't like the syringe but he ate a bit, it's a start. I've fed him a total of three times today. Earlier he was very active and crawling all over me. Then he fell asleep and made lots of noise in it. Now however, he's behaving a bit oddly.

He seems lethargic, tired. He's eating, and shows some interest in the syringe, grasping for it lightly etc, but he'll stop lapping every few seconds, and I have to give him a nudge to get him going again. Also, he was lying on his side, grasping his sock buddy and chewing on it for quite a bit while I was preparing his formula. Is he just looking for a nipple, or what? Is all this normal? I didn't notice it with my first kits, who may have been a bit older than this guy, so I'm not sure. Could it be dehydration of any kind?

Oh and I do stimulate him after every feeding. He's done a pee (Saw yellow on the q-tip so I assumed it worked) and a poo today.

Okay, now he's tucked his head in towards his chest a bit and is bobbing it up and down, I'm really getting worried.

... Nevermind, he's chewing at the face cloth I have him on and pulling at it. What's with this guy? He's an incessant chewer/biter/pincher.

If his eyes are opened he is at least 5 weeks old.
Not sure about the behavior, but he could be simulating nursing. Do you have any fleece or flannel you can put in his cage that his nails won't get caught on?
Try putting a few small twigs in for him to chew on. What kind of formula are you giving him, and how much at each feeding? Can you post a picture?

I might have something, I'll have to look though. We used pillowcases with the last kits but I think dad threw those out.
