PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
we had a possibly 3week old baby come into our animal hospital, our vet did not want to do anything since it was a thursday and she was off for the weekend. I'm going to sum this up really fast just because I'd like help first...
At first the baby girl was limp, I re-hydrated with pedilyte the first 24 hours then moved on to a kitten formula (which she did great on, seemed happy & healthy---the life was back in her). Yesterday i put her on Esbilac, as it was recommended on every site i visited and she went down hill. She hated it too :(
She got hiccups twice yesterday and this morning (apx an hour and a half ago) was arching her back, seemed to be going limp & gasping (yes, she was being fed every two hours) so i gave her a mixture of karo syrup and pedilyte. I've even rubbed some on her gums.
She has since stopped arching but her breathing is labored, it seems like it's small gasps every 3-4 seconds. she is weak, i'm keeping her warm i just dont know what else to do. I'm scared and my vet has no idea what to do.

She just pooped, it was runnier than usual and light brown.
Her breathing has slowed even more to about a small gasp every 8-10 seconds.
PLEASE HELP!!!

the back arching....could it have been a seizure? sounds like it...:grouphug
does she have any indication she fell on her head? face?
was her nose scab'y or bloody?
does she have any lumps/bumps?

basically two types seizures..injury or glycemic...
rubbing molasses/log cabin/karo will help if glycemic...
metacam if head injury.
i do not believe in dex for head trauma, although others here do, but since it's been since thursday, would not advise anyway...

i guess you see tsb reco's fox valley formula...esbilac causes issues since being reformulated a couple years ago...kitten formula doesn't have enough fat or nutrition to sustain sq life..

warm, quiet and dark...hoping for the best...
ty for helping her

tramadol and metacam is best advise i can give...:grouphug
feeding more often may help if not head injury..

By hick-ups, did any of the formula mix come out of the nose? Second how are you mixing the esbilac? Almost every member - even us have abondoned the esbilac, because they changed the formula (not enough good stuff in it for sq's). There is a way to "MAKE" it work in a pinch - but you have to mix it with heavy whipping cream & yogurt. (PM us if you need the mix) The best bet is to use jackies goat milk recipe until you can get in some fox valley (you don't have to add anything).

I ask about about the hick-ups, it can be confused with asperation.

The loose poopie is common with the transition from mama to the milk replacer.

Keep the baby warm and quiet......I am turning over the reins to ellie - I have to go do a job. She will be watching for updates.

OBTW - can you get a pic of the baby to help with anything else?

I'm afraid she passed away. It was so sudden. I've been holding her for the past hour and her little paws have since turned white-ish. There are no visible signs of breathing. Could she be in some type of deep coma? The vet i work for says she has no knowledge in squirrels so she wouldn't know.
