I just received a little squirrel yesterday and was wondering if I was able to put a little vaseline or what could I use for a little sore butt.. I think my daughter tried to stimulate him however she used a cotton ball with luke warm water. It looks like he has a little white blister on his butt.. He is about 3.5 weeks old his eyes are closed still. I was able to get him to poop just once since yesterday afternoon but nothing since then. He is peeing when stimulated. Please let me know what I can do or use. This is my 5th or so squirrel that I have rehabbed so I know most of the ins and outs of squirrels. i have been successful with all of them.
Here is my email address jbane09@gmail.com
I can send a picture if needed.

Thanks in advance for the help,

neosporin, triple anti b, diaper rash ointment without zinc are all safe...
make sure his bumm is dry before applying ointment.
hope that helps...:)

You may want to add in some feedings of water in between his feedings, to make sure his hydration is good (and get him pooping). Is he pooping in his enclosure?

I have used bag balm and neosporin before for irritation. A pic would help, too.

Not to be an alarmist, but often fly eggs or maggots themselves are found near or in the anus....be sure what you are dealing with is actually a blister, and if not get it out of there quick, with tweezers! Then you can administer Capstar to be certain there are none left behind.

Was thnking the same thing, that is why I said a pic is good. Hopefully it just is irritation.
