Hi,
I have three squirrels that were saved from down tree 2 weeks and 3 days ago - we thought they were about a week old at the time they were found. The largest one's eyes just started opening today - so cool :) The other two doesn't appear to be opening as yet. I read the eyes open at 5 weeks, does that mean these babies are more like 5 weeks old?
Thanks,
Gia

It sure does! That's great since the younger the more delicate seems to be the case when I read about the littlest guys.
I would be afraid to say...
Two days ago I saw teeny tiny babies with their eyes open. It was absoltely crazy looking! I think that stress can add the possibility of eyes opening early. Someone more knowledgeable please advise.
Also, I've heard that there are some odd things going on lately with babies staying small and looking several weeks younger than they are. I have a friend that has an older baby with eyes still closed.
Maybe it's the weather? LOL!

Eyes can open anywhere from 4-6 weeks. I've had pinkies that have waited until after six weeks and I've also gotten 4 week olds that just lost their mother open their eyes. I think stress can encourage them to open their eyes sooner. My four week olds I don't think would have survived had they not opened their eyes and crawled down the tree to me.

I am confused (what's new) - too many threads running together in my poor brain. Are these little red squirrels?

Looks like grey squirrels? I just resized the photos on spams other thread. And yes judging by the pics I would guess around 4 weeks old.
