Hey TSB

This past week with the whole hurricane Irene going on made me think about how unprepared I am if I needed to evacuate my family and pets! I could not help but have a feeling of a knife in my heart if my pets loss would be do to my lack of preparedness. There is no way I would leave them behind....I also thought what about food? I have no back up food in case things got that bad, and I know how horrible it would be to see them hungry! and me being in a state of helplessness. I want to be prepared...I have a container that locks out moisture and already have started a list and purchasing things that do not spoil such as wet dog food a 2 week supply for them (dry spoils in months)....well the reason I was posting this is because I wanted to know if anyone had thought of an emergency care kit for squirrels that a squirrel owner should have at all times, items that will not spoil easily ( which I know is difficult since they eat fresh veggies and fruit)...I just wanted to throw this out there because I would hate if I could not feed my little diesel and my two flyers ( lexi and lexus). Any ideas? I have started my personal emergency animal fund as well :thankyou

I have a small emergency kit that I built for Ellie. It contains the following items:

(these items are in a bag in my freezer...all I have to do is grab 1 bag and I have it all)
1 new sealed bag of HHB's
1 new sealed bag of FV
2 new sealed containers of Organic Apple/Blueberry baby food
1 1lb bag of shelled nuts (I bought shelled nuts and sealed them in my Foodsaver)
A baggie of her Primate O's (sealed with Foodsaver)

In her Overnight Bag, I have the following:
1 new bottle Rescue Remedy
2 fleece blankets (washed and in zip lock bags)
A bed that is very similar to the one she sleeps in currently
A new water bottle
A brand new pair of clippers for her teeth
2 stuffies that I gave her to play with when I first got her (after they smelled like her, I placed them in her Emergency Kit in a ziplock bag)
10 1cc syringes (just in case)

In her bag for me I have the following:
$500 cash
1 pair of jeans
3 pair of underwear
2 bras
3 t-shirts
1 pair of shorts
3 pair of socks
1 sweatshirt
brush
deodorant
hairspray
toothbrush & toothpaste

If we ever have to leave in a hurry (for any reason) I put her in her carrier in her room, grab the emergency bag from the hallway closet, grab the bag from the freezer and we are out the door. Takes about 3 minutes start to finish and that's with me catching her...

EDIT: I just re-read this...I seem a little paranoid don't I? :thinking

I was thinking that after about a year or so, I'd change them out for new...just to be on the safe side...although I do think that since everything is frozen and has been so since the day it was purchased/delivered it would actually be fine for a longer period of time...but it's one of those things that I need to know is good and not find out its bad when it's too late.

Primate O's...ummm, monkey food. She was eating them when I got her and she likes them.

The Emergency Kit/Overnight Kit are in case Ellie and I need to get out of the house/town/state on a moments notice. Fire, hurricane, flood, DNR, etc.

Rodent blocks are the first thing on my list under the items in the freezer...HHB's...Henry's Healthy Blocks.
