Yesterday my boyfriend and I found a baby squirrel on the sidewalk. We think he fell out of a tree, approximately 3 days before then.

When we found him he was screeching, which was the only reason we noticed him in the dark. So we brought him home and warmed him, then fed him a bit of water with some sugar/salt mixed in... This afternoon I went to get him some Pedialyte, and have been feeding him that.

I was in touch with Animal Advocates in Montreal, and they said that because he's so young, they can't take him... Are there ANY other options I have? It breaks my heart to have to get him put down, and being students we just can't realistically raise him ourselves.

I don't know what else to do, or where I can turn...

Thank you for rescuing this baby. An experienced rehabber will be here soon.

You will need to make sure the baby is warmed before feeding him. If he has been ther for 3 days we will be pretty dehydrated. If you have a heating pad put it under half of his container. When he is warmed, you can offer the pedialyte. This will also need to be warm, not hot but very warm. Feed with 1 cc syringe and go very slow. Please do not allow him to suck to hard on the syringe, he could aspirate (fluids/bubbles come out his nose).

Hopefully a rehabber will be here soon.

I resized the pic so people can see it better.

Do you have an e-mail to give me? I can give you a couple of numbers who "may" be able to help. I cannot do it myself (after 33 years here I am moving tomorrow and the day after... then we have to get this house here painted etc and get it ready to put on the market), Darnit! I would have loved to take him otherwise. :(

I need your e-mail tonite, I won't have a computer tomorrow as we are packing the last of everything away.

E-mail me now if you can: mgm48@sympatico.ca and I'll give you my phone number.

I just sent you an email!

The baby (named Sweets) is safe and warm, he has a hot water bottle and is in a box. :) I warmed him before feeding him, but it was fairly warm out when we found him, and he wasn't cold to the touch. He seems strong and fairly healthy, but he's still thin.

I'd love to keep him, as would my boyfriend, but we just can't. :,(

I sent you my number, sheena... call me now, tonite. I have to get into bed soon... movers will be here at 7am and I have to take my pets to the boarding place before that.

I could take him, but only in some 2 to 3 weeks from now. Things are just simply too hectic at the moment it's just impossible - even my other 3 little fuzzbutts here right now are having to make do with the stress of the move and I don't even have my emergency rehab supplies here with me they're already at the new house. :( If you and I could find someone to take him for the 2 or 3 weeks!!!

Thank you so much Scooterzmom, I really appreciate all the help!! :)

How much should I be feeding the baby in one sitting?

He's also making a strange noise, sounds like he's sneezing or huffing from his nose...

If you turn up your volume enough, you'll hear the sound. He makes it a few times in this vid.

Hello Scooterzmom,

I need your help too please. I just emailed you at your email. I hope you don't mind, but I would like to find a rehabber for a baby squirrel as soon as possible. I think he is 6+ weeks old. I am keeping him warm and rehydrated with pedialyte. I mixed a bit of puppy formula in with the pedialyte this evening.

If you could recommend someone to me that would be great.
