Please read the following I received from a friend (her non releasable has malo. and has to have his teeth trimmed each month.) The vet found that the tooth was broken under the gumline and was going to remove. Upon further testing, however, this is the latest:
'He had skull xrays today and they showed that there is some bone mass scarring from when he first hurt his teeth. Some of this scarring is impinging on the nasal passage. Surgical removal is complicated and I don't think my vet is up for it. He would rather do antibiotics, which I am not happy about. Do you have any ideas... did Hammy have to do antibiotics, and if so, what were the side effects?'
Anyone with experience in this AND/OR in the TX area and have any referrals for her, please chime in. She is near Austin, I believe.
Thanks in advance.:tilt

DR.Dan in NC is who comes to mind...
with teeth issues..I absolutely do recommend ABs if vet thinks he may be predisposed to infections..
I have a surgeon here also that can do dental surgery...
She will also do vet to vet consultation...Dr.Teresa Lightfoot
Florida Vet Specialists...on Twin Lakes Blvd. in Tampa...she wrote THE BOOKS on wildlidfe and exotics...
she's good Digi...:thumbsup
she will not talk to your friend, but she will the vet...
if he sends the xrays yada yada they can confere...this happens often, as she is a specialist...Islands Dr.Pilney interned under her...:thumbsup
I have another more affordable vet {surgeon} that said he would do any dental procedure with confidence...he , Dr Maldenado, did Sarahs amputation...we love him!
I would ask MuffinSQ to ask around for doctors in Texas!
CBELL is also in texas...
hugs to your friend and her baby
