Hey all. So one of my 4week old eastern male's urine color has become darker today than it has been. He's still feeding well, pottying well, acting perky enough. Should I be concerned of a developing UTI? Should I try giving him SQ fluids to help flush him, or antibiotics, or just monitor for changes?
Thanks for the advice!

Based upon the information you provided in your other thread (asking for med dosing) that you just got them last night...my first thought would be that they have not been hydrated long enough yet. Normally we hydrate for 24 hours. Darker urine is a sign of dehydration (although it could mean other things too), personally I would watch the color and odor of the urine and continue hydrating/feeding them. Are you using full strength formula or have you watered it down? Possibly you could water down the formula to a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio, which would continue supplying them with calories as well as provide extra fluids to assist with re-hydrating them.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have had the formula mixture watered down (~3:1). I've had these two for only about 48hours. The one with the recent darker urine is not the one with the wounds/the one I gave SQ fluids and now baytril too. So I suppose it could just be hydration issues. I'll wait another day and switch the ratio to 4:1 before trying anything else. Thanks again. I'll update if it doesn't resolve!
